Wednesday pm

Today sure went by fast.  Sara slept 'till 9:00 am, so tired and still getting used to the jet lag.  We enjoyed the quiet time before she woke up, using it to give Julia some extra snuggles.  Once Sara woke up we were in a flurry to eat breakfast (eggs and raisen bread), get sweaters on, pack up necessities (diapers, snacks, water), and head out the door.

We expected to go to the wednesday market, but it wasn't going on.  So we popped into a bakery, got a  muffin, croissant, and some sort of cherry popover.  Then we walked around a different. Area then we have walked before.  Found a toy store that had more neat stuff than a toys r us in a much smaller space.  Sara picked out trucks.  We didn't buy them, no room in the luggage.  Fun just to let Sara look.

Lunch wasn't clear cut.  We were indecisive.  Should we do a restaurant?  A take out place?   Keep it simple? Or try for a super duper experience?  Well, we ended up getting French fries (they are a thing in Belgium) and heading back to our house.  Some times a simple lunch is the best, and with two kids, if you don't start lunch at the right time, you bump into nap time making lunch an expensive venture for not much fun.  A typical sit-down lunch would easily be 30 euros.

On the way back her for lunch we wandered down a side street and saw a cute looking butcher shop.  Dan handed me some cash (every one uses cash here) and I popped in.  I tried to ignore the 3 rabbits they had, and the three bowls of brains next to the bunnies.  I got us some lamb chops, a hard salamie type sausage, and a puff pastry filled with ham, cheese, and vegetables.  Off to the cash register I went, wondering how much it would all be. Only 10 euro!  It gave us lunch and dinner, along with some vegetables we had from the grocery store.  Having things like adorable specialty cheese shops, nice butcher shops, and bakeries is part of the fun.

We finished up our pre lunch walk, enjoying how well we are getting to know this wonderful place.  While 10 nights isn't a super long time, it is long enough to settle in and really explore.    Sara is  soaking it all in.  Julia is a good sport to sleep in the bob stroller as we push it in the cobblestone streets and sidewalks.  Yes.  It is nearly all cobblestone.  I think I saw pavement once, and we've done a lot of exploring.

Saw a windmill on the  last turn by our house.  We'll get an up close view of it soon I bet!

Bye for now. :)

On the way back here for lunch we stopped
