Saturday - Made it to Fribourg

We woke up in Saas Fee, and traveled to Fribourg.  It took 1 bus, and 2 trains.  We were sad to leave Saas Fee, since our two weeks were fun.  But now it is time for new adventures!

Our bus was the 10:22 bus out of Saas Fee.  That ride was about 46 minutes to Visp.  Then we hauled the kids to the train platform (Julia really likes to walk, so I kept hurrying her along).  When we got on our first train we were so lucky, a full family seat was available right but the train door with luggage room.  Perfect.  The kids sat together and looked out the window.

Our second train was a beautiful train - just immaculate.  It looked brand new.  We were only on it for 30 minutes.  It bought us from Bern to Fribourg.

Once here we figured out how to get to our apartment hotel, which was straight down a hill in a pedestrian area.  It reminded us of Bern.  The apartment worker was waiting for us (reception closed at 12:30, but she knew we were coming and she waited for us to arrive!) When Sara and I walked in she said, "you must be Lori" and then we got our key and she walked us to our apartment.

This apartment is in a row of buildings, we have a few bedrooms and a kitchen.  It is nice.

After dropping off our luggage in our apartment we went for a walk.  We ended up back in the pedestrian area (no cars, just people strolling and shops etc) - and went to a beautiful food hall in a department store (beautiful like the food halls in London).  They had everything.  When I tried to buy lettuce I had 12 to choose from, all from various countries.  Even the tomatoes, some were from Italy and some were from else where.  We got a ton of stuff at the food hall market, loaded it into the bottom of the Bob-stroller and took it back here.

We had a nice dinner here in the apartment of lasagna, smoked salmon, oranges, and kiwi.  The kiwi was really cheap, I'll have to see where it is from.

We did another walk, but found all the stores to be closed.  They closed at 4:00 PM.  We enjoyed the stroll anyway, and loved hearing the bells of the city ringing.

Dan and I are reserarching what to do tomorrow.  Should be fun!

Quote of the day:
(on the train leaving Saas Fee) Sara:  "Dad, did you know we are in Switzerland?"

Fun day  - and we have a new town to explore Fribourg!
